GLOBAL SECURITY AND CHALLENGES OF THE 21st CENTURY

The security challenges of the 21st century are real provocation and dare for the humanity. The global security in the frames of the modern security concept is not an isolated scientific field that is determined only by the military threats. The modern security concept is based principally on the human security, built on principles of democracy and good governing, economic stability, education, health care, environmental protection, overall sustainable development or sustainable security. In the international relations the security is defined through stable bilateral relations, good neighbourly relations, regional stability and global security, as well as resistance to risks and threats. The globalization becomes a concept that symbolizes the spirit of the modern times, shaping life in the modern world. Therefore, these processes have enormous influence on the security, taking into consideration the openness of the environment where the internal and the external aspects of security are strongly bonded. The global processes have enabled development of trade, investments, technologies, especially information technology, leading towards better conditions concerning the freedom and the prosperity of the population, through expansion of the democratic gain in the community system. Stable security is a condition for development. Conflicts, as an antipode of stable security, don’t only destroy the infrastructure and the social aspect, but they also represent the essential factor for crime prevalence. Such constellation of relations reflects negatively on the investments and obstructs the normal economic activity, producing insecurity and poverty in many countries and regions. In the course of the last decade there hasn’t been a region in the whole world that hasn’t suffered a conflict. Unfortunately, most of the victims have been civilians. The contemporary security challenges give the field of global security a wider spectrum of scientific research. This scientific conference is an attempt to form an academic point of view of the conceptual issues concerning the global security challenges. The fields that are covered in this conference offer an open approach towards different areas that are affected by the contemporary security in different ways. That influence can be separate or complex enclosing one or more areas.

Conference fee:
The conference fee is 40 Euros and includes lunch and transport Skopje - Makedonski Brod - Skopje. The conference fee is due after the acceptance of the abstract latest until May 20, 2012. The participants, whose abstracts will be accepted, will be provided with information in more detail for the payment in the notification letter.
