The Department of History at Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, is currently accepting applications to its graduate program leading to the M.A. and Ph.D.
degrees. The main fields of study are:
Ottoman History
Byzantine History
Asian History
Oral History
Ancient History and Archaeology (M.A.)
History of Art, Architecture, and Visual Culture
Within the framework of the History Department’s participation in the Getty Foundation’s “Connecting Art Histories Initiative,” a number of scholarships will be available to students working on topics related to visual culture and art history, on a competitive basis.
The deadline for applications to be submitted to the Office of the Registrar is April 24, 2012. Written examinations and interviews will be held between May 2 and May 5, 2012.
Applicants to the Ph.D. program should include a copy of their M.A. thesis, or a completed chapter.
For those applying from outside of Turkey and will not be able to make it to the written exam and the subsequent interviews in Istanbul, the department will request a sample of the applicant's written work, and a Skype interview. Please include a Skype username and e-mail address with your application and make arrangements to have access to the Internet and to Skype on announced dates.
