Internship: at the Global Human Rights Defence Location: In Hague, Netherlands Deadline: 19 February 2012

GHRD is offering unpaid internship positions for students and/or recent graduates with a major focus on communication, media, journalism and human rights. The intern will support the staff of the human rights division with the activities relating to production of reports, articles, editing, external communication, and social media.

Tasks include:
Drafting of articles for the website
Prepare bi-monthly eNewsletter
Production of material and presentations; power points, brochures
Editing of all English materials and documents
Drafting and submitting of press releases
Maintain and update media tools (social networking)
Media monitoring of news in South Asia (Human rights news scan)
Processing human rights cases from GHRD’s partners in the field
Assist the Human Rights Officer with preparation of quarterly human rights reports.

Profile:
HBO/University student in Communication, Journalism, human rights, or related relevant field
Native English speaker with excellent writing skills
Creative, communicative and willing to gain practical experience in an international environment
Computer literacy and experience with different forms of social media.
Affinity with Human Rights/ NGO work is an asset
Knowledge or experience of South Asian human rights is an asset
Residence near The Hague is desirable
 
Internship duration:
Start date: mid March 2012. 6 month internship duration preferred.
